The Writer Upstairs: Premiere and Book Launch Shine in Independence, MO
The exclusive premiere of The Writer Upstairs, a new short film, paired with its official book launch, took center stage at the historic Pharoah Theatre in Independence, Missouri. Several members of the Knowledge Tree Films team hosted the event, where producers Kevin Marcus and Ray Wicks highlighted their company’s longstanding connection to the Kansas City area. The guest of honor was author Matt Mallinson, who took a bow and said a few words in front of an audience of over 200 as part of speeches before the film was shown. The event featured a photo gallery of images from the film shoot, and themed gift baskets featuring wines from Mallinson Vineyard and Hall.
Guests were welcomed with the chance to meet the author, share a few words, and pose for photos before the highly anticipated screening. The theater buzzed with energy as the audience settled in, eyes fixed on the big screen for the debut of the novel-inspired drama. The film’s premiere delivered a captivating experience, with viewers drawn into the parallel storylines taking place in present day, and one hundred fifty years earlier. The screening also included a look “behind the scenes” with video clips taken during filming presented to the audience as a sneak peak of the filmmaking process.
